RIP Rik Mayall

I now "get it" regarding celebrity deaths as Rik Mayall's passing has left me unaccountably bereft. Such a big part of my formative years, and my obsession with comedy.

And the kids will say:

“but why are the grown ups crying?"

And the grown ups will say:

“Haven’t you heard? Rik is dead? The people’s poet is dead”

And then one particularly sensitive and articulate grown up will say:

“Other Grown ups; do you understand nothing?"
“How can Rik be dead when we still have our ‘Bottom’ DVDs?
